Keeping Fit 06/06/2009
![]() My first love is cycling and between 1976 and 1996 I was a serious road racer and achieved 2nd category status...I also did some time trialling and mountain biking. Although I stopped racing years ago I still cycle to keep fit...My usual route is the hilliest one I can find around Burnham Beeches,Fulmer and Hedgerley and takes me about 40 mins to an hour depending on the route and I guess it is between 18 and 20 miles. The toughest part is always Hedgerley Hill which is only a few hundred metres long but about 1 in 7...I am 6' 1" tall and weigh about 85 kilos so dragging my carcass up there is never easy. The best type of exercise is the one you enjoy to do because that means you will more likely be consistent with it. ![]() This is my racing bike...It is a 58cm Fausto Coppi, aluminium frame,Shimano Ultegra STI levers, rear mech and chainset and Shimano 105 hubs and brakes,Look clipless pedals,Airline 2 wheels with Armadillo puncture resistant tyres. It cost me £950 about 5 years ago and is the best bike I have ever had...I have broken every single frame on almost every bike I have owned except this one which is a testimony to its strength.
