Postural Assessment 09/07/2009
0 Comments

I am currently working with a client who had been suffering for the past two years with pain and swelling in his right knee...the problem was only apparent when he walked and was fine when he rode his bike.
This chap had seen various Osteopaths and Chiropractors about his problem and although they helped, the problem still wasn't resolved.
During his postural assessment we found he had a 8 kilo...that's 17.6lbs weight shift to his right
That meant he had an extra 17.6lbs going through his right knee all day long...when he walked that would have increased due to impact.
On further investigation we found he had fallen from his bike two years ago and landed on his right side...it was possible his body was still in the protective phase it would have assumed at the time.
Anyway, after two weeks of following his stretching/strengthening program he reported a massive improvement in his knee pain.
In a couple of weeks we will do another posture assessment and measure the exact improvement objectively.
As Paul Chek says:"Your programme is only as good as your assessment".
