Just finished reading Journeys Out Of The Body by Robert Monroe.
The book is about one man's experience with out of body experiences or astral travel.
Monroe documents his first hand experiences in the late 1950's and 1960's with excerpts from his diary and very interesting they are indeed.
When he wrote the book there were almost no other written accounts of this kind of thing and his book is now a classic of the genre.
I have read 3 or 4 books about this subject and the stuff described is fairly consistent in all the books.
Monroe is an excellent reporter and documents his journeys in a very methodical way as he is constantly searching for hard facts and scientific explanations as to what is happening to him.
He writes of journeys into 3 locales...Locale 1 is here/now...Locale 2 is a kind of halfway house between here and Locale 3 which he nicely theorises is an anti matter version of the world we know here.
Locale 2 is the scariest as it contains parasitic,subhuman entities which attach themselves to him as he moves,he also has several demonic entities attack him as he lay in bed and his description of this is straight out of a horror film!!!
If you are of a nervous disposition then this book has the potential to scare the shit out of you but it can also reassure you there is something after death other than blackness.
I found the end of the book very interesting as he considers our purpose on earth and likens it to an animal being left in its cage after the experiment has finished.
