Contagion 2 10/31/2011
 
I saw Contagion last week and just as I suspected in a previous blog,it was just a 2 hr ad for vaccines.
There was constant reference to the fact people will continue to die "unless we develop a vaccine".
Whenever the vaccine was mentioned it was often prefixed with a word like "wonder","magic" and  "lifesaving" just to emphasis it.
The alternative health viewpoint was represented in the form of Jude Law,complete with Nanny MacPhee snaggle tooth and a dodgy aussie accent.
He was portrayed as an internet nut,out to make money at peoples expense and was constantly looking over his shoulder and disguising himself so as not to be recognized.
The vaccine researchers,however,were all good,upstanding americans with the good of the people at heart.
The film was not even good which would have at least made it watchable.
As if the heavy handed repetition of the message did not sink in there was the final scene which showed an oversimplified version of how dem pesky bats and piggies contaminated the world.
It wasn't all bad though...Gwyneth Paltrow dies early on and we get to see her have her brain removed...as Joan Rivers said..."It's the feelgood movie of the year"!!!
